The valley has a selection of hiking trails too. Guests may walk, run or cycle on the farm and some of the neighbouring properties too. Please enquire with reception.

144 guests' feedbackIt was neat, but the one toilet was full of balls and there was a used dental floss by the sink. The electricity went down a lot, no backup. There was no hot water when we wanted to shower. The stove did not work and the dishwasher.
We called several times because there was no hot water. Several hours later the person arrived and informed us that there was a problem with the power tripping. We were also awake from 01h00 in the morning. People were playing loud music and drinking and hanging out around the reception area. I also sent a WhatsApp but the people were not silenced. They just confirmed that they received it. I understand that the power can trip, but the party was a problem. We and our 2 year old toddler didn't get any sleep.
Wonderful stay in a large space with a stunning view, perfect location with picturesque walks on the farm.

Our family stayed one night at Raptor Rise, en route from the Cape to Gauteng. The farm is breathtakingly beautiful and the facilities were everything we needed. We had a great swim, slept very well, and really enjoyed our visit to Tulbagh's village. It is well worth stopping here and drinking in the tranquility and beauty of the area!

Wish we could have stayed longer.
Town is chaos on a Friday afternoon, so do your shopping early. And stop by Kole en Deeg shop, and the Hotel's restaurant for something to eat.
There was coffee, rooibos, English tea and milk, but no sugar, only Canderell. It was very wet outside, so there were no mats at the doors when you came in, so we used the bathroom's bath mats for that. The rooms' floors are cold, carpets next to the beds will help with that. There were only 3 champagne glasses. Furthermore, it was top quality, nice fridge, stove, dishwasher and plenty of wood. The solar system works great.

We really enjoyed our night at Raptor's Rise. The room was clean, blissful and very beautiful. Everything was there that we could need. The king size bed was very comfortable and we certainly slept well.

Much to do, but did the hiking trail. The owner, Jeremy, was super helpful and went the extra mile for us. The wifi is excellent and we were not affected by the loadshedding as there was backup power running at the time. A stunning place.
We had a great time with our dogs at the Barn cottage, a beautiful place to just relax.

The room was very neat. All Raptor Rise can try is to put televisions with DStv in rooms, as well as heaters especially now in winter, there was aircon, but it didn't want to work.

It's been a long time since I've been to a place where everything a family with children needs has been thought of. Victorinox knives in the kitchen, towels for the bathrooms and swimming at the pool were provided and these are just two of the little things that stood out. My children were so sad that we had to come home, I had to "pinky promise" them that we will visit Raptor Rise again soon. I can not wait!

However, the upstairs noise, especially at night when sleeping, above our Room 7 was very disturbing. People walking after 12 could be heard very clearly. Which subsequently disturbed our sleep. I suggest that something needs to be done in order to minimize the noise from the upper room.
We really enjoyed our stay at Raptor Rise. The unit was neat and clean, daily cleaning service was offered for an additional fee. It is located just outside Tulbagh, on a short but well-maintained dirt road. It is away from the city life and very peaceful, we could go for a walk among the chickens, horses, cattle and sheep. There are also marked MTB routes with different distances and a swimming pool for hot days. The view over the mountains is particularly beautiful.
Absolutely beautiful. We stayed in The Barn and it was spacious with top-end finishes. The only thing I missed was a bathtub.

My husband and I just went for a short break and explored the area a bit. Accommodation is suitable for overnight stays, but I would not use it for self-catering. Rooms are very small to sleep in and cook.
On arrival we immediately felt at home. Our room was very neat and the area made us feel very relaxed with the direct view of the farm and animals. We received excellent service and could check out later than normal which was amazing.

Very nice farm with horses grazing peacefully in camp. The lawns and everything are very neat and I recommend it.

We were very comfortable and cozy on a cold winter's evening on the beautiful farm at the foot of the mountain. Nice walk and photographed the beautiful farm and buildings. Our hostess was friendly and helpful.

The cottage is stunning. Private with your own large garden and pool. Beautiful inside with everything you need. They even brought us 2 containers of wood for the fireplace inside and the outside braai. We had a wonderful weekend and will definitely visit again.

We had a wonderful 2 nights here and it's the most beautiful macaws in the country.
We booked the Penthouse for two nights. This South facing room offers a lovely view over the farmlands with Tulbagh in the backdrop. Sadly due to load-shedding we were caught off guard as there were no gas appliances in the room. And if you like a proper Afrikaanse braai, wood fires are not allowed and the braai area is a table mounted bonzai Weber. Large enough for 4 decent sized chops, but too small for a Texan steak. That aside, it is the perfect place for a hide-away from the rate race. Knowing what to expect, we will surely go back.
The unit is clean and neat, the views are stunning, we will definitely return when we are in the area again.

The self-catering cottage had everything we needed. If you want privacy, this is the place to be. Great for your fur kids. The pool was divine and the views were fantastic. If you need a break from the city, this place will rejuvenate anyone. Definitely a place to return to over and over.

We stayed in the Queen suite. Very neat and tidy accommodation. Exceptionally clean except for tonnes of small worms/caterpillars which were all over the unit (possibly trying to escape the heat too). Allows for very light self catering, as indicated in the description. Everything is extremely basic and compact, and the basin is one very small bowl which makes it difficult to wash dishes. The sleeper couch constantly tries to slide open when you sit on it. All in all a very neat unit, possibly best suited to someone that wants to explore the area and eat out at the local restaurants. The host was very accommodating of our unpredictable check in and check out times, and was easy to contact. She gave very good recommendations of things to visit and do in the area.

This was our first visit to Raptor Rise & i can say with all due honesty, it was our most enjoyable & relaxing weekend away, as well as the first time ever that i did not want to return home. As we travel quite often & always try new places, we have both experienced some of the best & some of the worst places. At every place we have visited so far there was always something amiss. From the very warm welcome to the beautiful view & the very well equipped cottage with beautiful decor & good quality linen. We could not have asked for anything more or better. I have already booked our next visit & very much looking forward to it! Thank you once again for a fantastic weekend.

If you are looking for silence then this is the right place, located outside the town of Tulbagh and right next to Saronsberg which offers you a nice breakfast, as well as their wine tasting.
Spent a weekend in Tulbagh at Raptor Rise enjoying amazing starlit skies and no noise. It is surrounded by world class wine farms and a stone throw from the town centre of Tulbagh. Highly recommended to recharge.

The service is personal and professional. The ring we left there was immediately reported by the staff and management was more than willing to get it to us as agreed.

Arriving at Raptor Rise was a such a pleasure - such a comfortable holiday cottage with great attention to detail and a warm welcome by the hosts. The setting on the farm below the mountain, surrounded by fields and farm animals, is really idyllic in spring as the snow melts on the top of the mountains.

Located in the beautiful Tulbagh area, one of the most peaceful and beautiful self-catering accommodation units we have ever stayed in. The owners are very friendly and helpful and the unit was beautifully furnished and very neat and clean. There is so much beauty to appreciate and witness with a view to enjoy in every direction. Our weekend was fantastic and would definitely recommend Raptor Rise (and Tulbagh) to any nature lovers looking to get away from the city's constant rush for wind.

Raptor Rise is named for the birds of prey that ride the thermal currents created by the combination of valleys and mountains in the area. Some of the rooms are named after the smaller birds that abound in this valley.
Tulbagh is often the home to the Cape Epic and thus there are well-mapped and marked mountain biking trails on the farm, suitable for both beginners and the most competent. The valley has a selection of hiking trails too. Guests may walk, run or cycle on the farm and some of the neighbouring properties too. Please enquire with reception.
