Good value for money. Clean and tidy.
The hostess, Lana, is a lovely person with a heart for weary travelers. She received us, informed us and the next morning treated us to a delicious breakfast in the on-site restaurant. Her staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It was a pleasant overnight stop and the village full of character with the nicest restaurants within walking distance. The traffic of heavy vehicles that use the main street during the night is disturbing, but fortunately not continuous. The place is neat and well prepared for those in need! Bigger towels would be nice. The window on top of the door was a problem as it didn't have anything in front, and we couldn't find where to switch off the lights on the outside. It would be better to have better blinds or something similar.
I was received very kindly and kept up to date with the load shedding schedule. Everything was very tidy and all the little treats that a single traveler would enjoy were thought of.

Very neat and clean. Comfortable for overnight stay. Made provision for my car to be parked behind a closed gate, but don't think it would have been unsafe if it had to be parked. Provision was made for light during load shedding. Hostess even made a reservation for us for dinner, which we really appreciated because everything was full. Great service.

The room and the bathroom were both spotless. The room had all the facilities that were advertised. The restaurant served a lovely breakfast to us while we sat on the front patio watching the towns folk go by. Super chill.

Cute little shop in guest house, as well as small restaurant. Unfortunately, the vehicle had to park outside due to parking which was too small. Gate had to be open and therefore anyone could enter the premises. Still had a wonderful stay.

We were very disappointed on arrival, as we had to wait over an hour to be shown to our room and we could not get hold of anyone telephonically. Although we have an average size car, it was impossible to fit it in the lock-up carport so we had to leave it parked on the road.

Neat, clean and value for money.
I stayed here under the previous ownership and it was very nice. Everything neat and comfortable. The WiFI was unfortunately very poor and I struggled with the DStv - called and left a message but was not contacted back. Also, everything was closed and we were alone, which was not as nice "vibe" as last time, when the restaurant and bar were open. I will book here again, but make sure there is a bit more going on, also in the town, which was extremely quiet.

I only slept 2 nights in the guest house, went out in the morning and only came back in the evening, so I wasn't there during the day at all. The fact that I had bulbs that continued to give light during "load shedding" is definitely a plus and was very convenient. Unfortunately, the guest house is located on the R62, which means that you hear traffic throughout the night. It was somewhat disturbing. There are also no burglar bars in front of the windows. The weather was wonderfully cool and refreshing - I would have liked to sleep with the windows open but couldn't due to the absence of burglar bars. Otherwise, the room and bathroom were comfortably furnished; it is a neat, clean place and the staff were considerate and friendly. I will use MonTQ Guest House again.

Within comfortable walking distance to most of the local attractions. Our room was clean but very cramped, with a very poor-quality queen bed. Would suggest that the present bed be replaced with a 3/4 one and the room advertised as a single sleeper. This change will allow better use of the limited space e.g. by adding a small sitting area with a table. Unfortunately, our hostess forgot to turn on the geyser before we arrived so we had no hot water on our first night. Secure parking is limited to 2 small vehicles.
The third oldest building in Montagu. Well appointed (would have liked a small microwave in room though) and very special to stay in overnight. The hotel is close by and offers delicious meals at a reasonable cost. The other places to eat were already closed by 17:00! A visit to Montagu is a must for any visitor to SA.

Four Oaks Guesthouse comfortable, clean with good restaurant. Manager was there to check us in and give us a run down on facilities. Unfortunately the occupants of a derelict looking property across the road were extremely noisy throughout the night that we stayed which made for an uncomfortable stay.

The restaurant and breakfast were very nice and the food excellent. Unfortunately, the location of the guest house on the main street with many other noisy places to stay is not recommended.
Thank you very much for a lovely night's stay with a nice breakfast the next morning. What I would suggest is putting a lock or something on the side gate to make it more secure. Otherwise people can come in from the street. Thank you.

We were kindly received by the owner and his wife. The rooms are very neat and we also had dinner in the restaurant. The food (dinner and breakfast) was delicious and well presented. Unfortunately, there was no safe parking for all the guests, and I had to park my car outside in the street -- as a result, I had to take all my luggage out of the car. It was a bit of a hassle, but I did it for my own peace of mind.
After having travelled through the Karoo and stayed at various places this was the most disappointing and most expensive.
I was a bit disappointed that the restaurant advertises to be open until 21h00 but when I arrived at 20h00 it was closed. Probably just a quiet evening. The so-called safe parking was on the street. Montagu is probably not a risk now, however on street parking with road construction going on everywhere didn't make me feel any better. Otherwise good sleep and good breakfast.

Beautiful place. They really put effort into its renovation. Rooms are small but comfortable.
We are people-people and would prefer a little more interaction from owner and waiter. You arrive and give your details. Someone walks along and unlocks. Just ask if there is anything. For us it was a bit too formal. E.g. sunday morning Owner greeted. Just asked if we want fruit and yogurt or breakfast right away. We said first fruits then the breakfast they offer. He says thank you and goes out. Bring appetizer and go out, etc. I would make guests feel more welcome by introducing myself and asking guests: What do you bring to Montagu? Tell something about the town's activities, what you can visit, etc. We Afrikaners are just like that. Chatty people, but that's so casual. We will stay there again if we go in that direction.

The village of Montagu has an long history and four oaks is part of that. The rooms were clean and the service excellent. A big surprise was the restaurant which served food of a very high quality.

This owner/manager really doesn't care about guests. From arrival to departure, I felt so out of place that if I had other accommodation, and hadn't paid ahead of time, I would have packed my bag and gone looking for another place. Simon is the most unfriendly, coldest person I have ever seen in the tourism industry. I travel to various areas every week and Four Oaks never sees me again. I would not recommend the place, and after talking to other people in the area, it became clear that no one locally recommends the place for overnight accommodation!

The room I slept in is beautiful and it was lovely to be able to stay in such a historic building. Owners very hospitable and helpful. The breakfast is nicely presented and pleasant.
The room is a bit cramped and doesn't have room for your bags. The shower by the bath is uncomfortable and there is no dressing table to blow dry hair and apply makeup. However, the restaurant is fantastic and unbeatable.

Late check-in was not a problem for Four Oaks, and with their own restaurant it is easy to relax soon. Parking may be a bit tight.

The room had everything required for a comfortable stay - TV, air-con, sparkling bathroom, comfy bed, crisp white linen. The dinner was 5 star!
Within walking distance of all the shops, museums, restaurants etc. Breakfast delicious. Dinner just as delicious. No problem staying there again. Stay two nights, because it's nice.
Excuse me for the Netherlands; South African is too difficult. Our stay in Four Oaks was one of the highlights of our trip through South Africa. A historic place, hospitable reception, high quality cuisine and delicious wine. And all this well paid. We thank the owners of the guesthouse for this wonderful stay.

A warm welcome and tantalising smell from yhe kitchen greeted us weary travellers after much traffic struggles out of cape town. friendly staff. well appointed room with firm bed and shower after a divine meal was the best first night on holiday.
Considering we (my husband, daughter & son-in-law and myself)only decided to spend a night en route to Oudtshoorn the day before our visit and Four Oaks was the only place available, we were most pleasantly surprised and would recommend Four Oaks highly. The cost per person B&B was exceptional and we enjoyed an excellent dinner and breakfast, also hosts very friendly.
