I will always stay here on my visits to Montagu. It's an amazing place with amazing staff.
Art Deco, beautiful old furniture, delicious food and friendly service.
The hotel is very centrally located. There are garden rooms and a beautiful rondavel room as well as art deco inspired rooms in the main building. The breakfast was very pleasant and the dining hall staff are very friendly. The only "negative" of the hotel is that not all rooms offer DStv channels. SABC channels only. In the advertisement it says DStv in room. It might just need to be fixed to avoid unhappy guests (especially during the world cup).
Tasteful and neat unit. Spa treatment was a lovely treat. Tasty meals and friendly staff.
We were impressed with the service and also with the cleanliness and quality of our unit.
Every person should visit the Montagu Country Hotel once in their lifetime. If you are at all interested in Art-deco 1970s decor, this is the place to stay for all the wonderful service from the staff and much more. Put this on the to-do list.
I loved that they redo the rooms and towels. I would just suggest mentioning to the guests that the shower does get cold very quickly and then hot when the power is off. I would love it if I could stay there often when I do weddings in Montagu. It was delicious! Thanks again.

Our next visit was a four star hotel in Arniston for half the price of Montagu Country Hotel.
Very pleasant. Staff very helpful and friendly. Wonderful ambiance. Very nice breakfast. They make a lot of effort to inform guests about the load shedding schedules and have invested a lot so that the lights can at least be on in the rooms during power outages, really appreciate it. The hotel is unfortunately at a busy stop street which is quite disturbing in the evening/night/early morning with all the noisy cars.
The Montagu Country Hotel is ideally located right in the middle of Montagu (or so it felt to us)! I would have appreciated a bath in the unit, but the shower is lovely big. Don't miss the wine and brandy tasting at BluVines. The friendly reception staff of the hotel recommended us to BluVines' wine tasting! Thank you! We will definitely stay with you again!

Bedding needs attention. For the cold nights I think better quality duvets are a must (down just creates a much better impression). Sheets and pillowcases nice and clean.

Montagu Country Hotel and Montagu creep very deep into your heart. You just don't want to drive. At reception we were kindly received and taken to our room. Afterwards we went on a delightful ghost and history tour on bicycles through the town. The meals were delicious. Will definitely go again.

The hotel was of course fantastic but the staff's friendliness and execution of their work is what really set it above other places for us.

Positive: The staff was very friendly and the food was too good. Negative: The door to our room's en-suite bathroom had glass in it and it didn't offer enough privacy. The TV only had a few SABC channels and that is not good enough for a four star hotel.
Stunning hotel. But the noise from the traffic early in the morning was not so nice. Not much you can do as it is, unfortunately, a bit run down on that side of town now.
We only stayed for 1 night but had a pleasant experience. The service was fast and friendly and our room was comfortable and tidy - lovely bed! The dinner was definitely a 5 star event and we had a great meal. The glass of Montagu Muskadel on the house was definitely the icing on the cake - thank you Montagu Country Hotel for great service and beautiful memories.

The fantastic place makes you feel like family, the meals are fantastic (thanks chef Werner), there is nothing better than sitting on the patio of the hotel with a nice coffee or a glass of wine and just staring at the mountains which surrounds Montagu. The management makes you feel at home and I can't wait to come back.

I was not made aware the the hotel was being renovated when I made the booking. There was no signage/notification to indicate where I was supposed to register and no staff visible to ask. I eventually phoned the listed number and was told that someone would come out to my car and take me to my room. I was then informed that I will not be able to have dinner at the hotel due to the building alterations. I specifically booked at the hotel as I did not want to go out and look for for a place eat.

The hotel is currently under renovation and although it is an eyesore, it is much needed. The friendly staff deserve praise and recognition; they make the stay particularly pleasant.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was just what we expected and the bathroom was massive. The bed was super comfortable. We slept well and were refreshed. Due to renovations underway together with the pandemic requirements the restaurant was unfortunately closed but they packed us a generous breakfast bag. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at Montagu Country Hotel. Good value for money and pleasant!

We enjoyed our stay here, it's a lovely setting in the garden and with 2 pools. However, we found some of the staff were visibly sitting around chatting for hours instead of working, when we were looking for someone to order a drink at the pool from, it happened over several occasions not just one day, which is not very professional. Management should keep a check on this kind of behaviour, it's not befitting of a 4 star hotel. Other than that it's a quaint hotel with lots of quirky character, clean rooms and helpful reception staff.

The atmosphere at MCH is lovely and the staff are extremely friendly and competent. We have stayed there before and will always go back.
We enjoyed a warm welcome and we were upgraded to a rondavel outside, which was great seeing as we had a dog. The rondawel was luxurious and the bathroom was lovely.
Crystal at reception was very friendly, and so were all the staff. We were on a motorcycle and it was raining soaking wet and cold when we got there. It was so nice to be able to relax in the clean big room. The restaurant was excellent. Good experience and value for money.

A lovely few days spent relaxing in a tranquil environment. Really made one forget about the everyday issues one is faced with. A special thanks to Jacques who was on duty for going the extra mile to arrange room service, after I sustained a knee injury, and a big plus too for arranging a meal that suited my needs!!! The fireplaces kept going and the pianist playing in the background during diner was also another plus! Will definitely be back soon!!!!

Advertise the cd's moer prominently, we had to ask for it).The Art Deco building and furnishing was what drew us to start off with and we were not disappointed. We had a bit of a misunderstanding about the pensioners rates which I do not think your receptionists understood completely, but it was afterwards explained to me promptly via E-mail.
