This lodge offers guests the options of 3 Deluxe villas and 2 Superior villas that are luxuriously furnished with a king-size bed and can accommodate 2 guests. Each villa has an in-room bath and an en-suite bathroom fitted with a walk-in shower, toilet, and double vanity, with an outside shower for those summer months.
Guests have access to a wooden deck with amazing views of the surrounding game reserve as well as a private splash pool at each villa, the Superior villas include a heated Jacuzzi. The main lodge has 2 pools.
Included in the rate are breakfast and dinner. Guests can enjoy these meals in the lodge’s dining room, or guests who are staying in the Superior villas can enjoy their meals in the comfort of their own space.
The lodge’s own private spa offers wonderful treatments, a sauna, and a jacuzzi.
Guests' vehicles are parked in a secure parking garage at the bottom of the mountain, they are then transported through the game reserve in a game vehicle to the main lodge at the top of the mountain.

Amazing location, friendly welcoming staff, beautiful place. Exceeded my expectations.
The only one thing we were not happy about was the pool; it didn't have a heater. We were disappointed by that, as we couldn't swim because the water was too cold. They stated that no child under 12 was allowed, and there was a couple who brought a child that was under 12 years. We had so many questions. Otherwise, everything else we will definitely give it 5 stars.
It was amazing, real value for money. The staff were so nice and welcoming, it was my birthday and they made our birthday dinner special, it was just a 10/10 for everything.
Awesome stay except for the Jacuzzi that wasn't working.

The lodge is nice and well positioned for relaxing with great views. The service team and lodge manager are very pleasant and welcoming. They go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable. The lodge needs to provide more snacking options between meals or allow guests to bring their own snacks and refreshments. There's nothing to do other than resting, sleeping and eating. Therefore, more flexibility or options should be available for guests to eat. I made a request for gluten-free bread, but no provision was made, which is a disappointment. Provision was made on the second day after we reminded the lodge staff.
I feel like pictures don't do justice to the beauty. The place is gorgeous, a mini heaven on earth. The staff, food, everything was amazing.
The location is beautiful, stunning views. The staff provides great service. The place needs an option of blinds because during a sunny day, the sun is everywhere in the villa. We ended up sitting in the bathroom area as that was the only place the sun didn't reach. I was very disappointed with the cleanliness. The carpets were dirty, the linen was stained everywhere, including the bed sheet. I had to ask the staff to change it as I wasn't going to sleep on them. Oh, we also arrived at the same time as the shield bugs, they were EVERYWHERE! They also ruined our stay.
The lodge is beautiful. The team was very welcoming and courteous. We absolutely loved the game drive and the picnic setup. The privacy, security, and the views were quite exceptional. We did have a couple of issues though: Accommodation. The villa we stayed at had a number of issues: (1) the carpets were not clean, and the stains looked old. (2) The USB charging cables were all not working - if you're coming, please bring an adapter. (3) There were cobwebs. (4) The lights around the pool area were not working, so we could not take a swim at night. Hidden costs. (1) We booked the bush picnic that was valued at R1200 for an hour and asked to order snacks, only to be charged just over R at checkout for the snacks. Our mistake was not to ask what the R1200 was covering exactly. (2) The bar fridge was empty, and all other drinks were additionally charged.
Our drive up to the lodge was met with a friendly team of 2, however the vehicle was smelly and messy inside and not clean. Not a good start. Welcome drinks were not halal although we specified before arrival. Attention to detail is key. They should have offered a replacement drink - like an orange juice, etc. The welcome and introduction were friendly but a bit unprofessional and lacked formality. The unit was not up to the standard of a well-maintained unit in terms of cleanliness. Tiles, carpets, and toilets were really not kept to the standard they should have been. The little stools' stitching was bursting open and exposing the foam, the floors had spots and patches of dirt. The white armchair upholstery at the mini desk was filthy and the carpet stained with dirt. The so-called solar-powered heated pool was freezing cold and really should have been warm or had a better solution to this. The place is beautifully located but completely lacked attention to finer details and cleanliness. Before using the Nespresso coffee machine, you need to request milk, but it's strange as there is a bar fridge which would have been convenient to leave a small bottle of milk or even powdered milk at the very least… but you had to go the extra mile and WhatsApp to request a little milk and then wait for it to be brought up. It could have been an absolute gem 10/10 with the right management and quality control. The units are beautiful but in time will deteriorate if not maintained. The staff always tried their best and were pleasant. They were always polite and eager to accommodate. However, the cleanliness and lack of detail, and what seemed to be a lack of proper management made the stay more of a critical one than a complimentary one. Still, lots of potential to correct, and it can be a wonderful weekend getaway.
Dumisani gave the most amazing game drive. Mpho and Ingrid made us feel at home throughout our stay. The chef made sure that every meal was prepared to perfection. They even planned a surprise date as we were celebrating our anniversary. The only downfall was the volume of water coming from the shower.

We had such a good time. The game drive was the highlight with Axel. But everyone else was lovely.
One rests well. Everyone is very nice and friendly I would recommend anyone to go there. They treat one like kings there. Well done, haven't seen such good service in a long time.

I was greeted at the main gate by Ingrid and Desmond. Both had huge smiles on their faces and were welcoming. Then I met Ayanda at the door and she showed me around and made me feel so welcome. The place is spectacular, my villa and the view was spectacular. The food, oh my gosh, the food. Explosions in my mouth.
I enjoyed the adventure walk with Barry. He was very insightful and full of knowledge about the farm and area.
Really enjoyed our stay at the Kraal African Luxury Lodge. The accommodation was unique with fantastic views, and we loved the positioning of the jacuzzi. The food was good, and the staff were friendly. The game ranger was fun and knowledgeable. If I could give some advice to the lodge, it would be to either install some blinds or provide face masks as the room is all glass and the light/sun is harsh in the morning, making it hard to sleep in. They also have a good coffee machine but need to give lessons on the types of coffee and technique.
The stay was so great, the views were breathtaking. Very private and intimate. The staff was so friendly. The only downside was that we couldn't have meals in our Villa, defeating the purpose of being secluded. Our Jacuzzi also had a problem with heating up. Other than that, it was truly a great experience.
Negatives: we weren't given a room key. spa was not up to standard and staff were unprofessional. ? Cleanliness of the jacuzzi. the rooms need blinds. the pools are not heated as advertised. the rooms need a printed welcome letter - with Wi-Fi, menus, times for game drives etc. . having to sms/ WhatsApp and wait for a reply was tedious at times. . the room needs a phone. Positives. - beautiful location.
Food was terrible. Ranger clueless about animals.
House had ladybirds all over, with their nests inside the villa. Was told it is because of rain but don't believe it. Nests, spiderwebs proved otherwise. The Jacuzzi was not working. The VVIP service promised, to have breakfast and dinner in the villa has been cancelled. Berry arranged it for us after talking with him as a result he didn't charge us for extras. The view all good, but the area needs some serious service and maintenance. The price we paid is way too much for what we got.
This feedback was also given to the manager verbally. Power issues: For such an upmarket lodge I found the power issues annoying. Don't understand why provisions are not made for additional diesel power to ensure there's no uninterrupted power. Also, the lodge invests in other alternative energy solutions available in the market. Breakfast was fair, but the rest of the meals are not up to standard. The pizza was not fresh and the explanation was that they don't have a pizza oven and as such don't make fresh pizza. Dinner meals are substandard e.g. Potatoes were not fresh and looked like they were cooked earlier, I assume due to power issues and left to sit for a while before being warmed. The cappuccino was served with stale veggies. The chicken curry was the only meal well prepared. Desserts are not of great quality and are unpalatable. Chocolate fondant looks and tastes like a muffin. Apple crumble was served with jam. Manager needs to check on guests regularly. It's a small lodge after all, and this shouldn't take much time. Shouting cost-cutting instructions at your kitchen staff so your guests hear you is a no-no. Game drive felt like a 45-minute joy ride. No interaction with guests. Nothing to write home about. Staff were very friendly. Ingrid made the stay very pleasant. She's a great host. What doesn't help, are all the limitations that the lodge which affect her ability to be at her best and set her up for success. Overall the lodge offers very little flexibility e.g. as a rule you can't have a meal in the room. Dinner is prescribed between 18:00 and 19:30, or else the kitchen closes due to power issues. Not a great experience overall.
The highlight of our stay was the spa experience and the specially arranged dinner for our anniversary. However, that’s where it ended. We stayed in Villa 5, which is supposed to be the best villa at a premium price. Despite being labelled as secluded and not in view of the other villas, the lack of blinds or window tinting compromised our privacy. Anyone could easily look into the villa, which was a major drawback for both my husband and me. The blue LED lights from the deck and pool reflected on the windows, causing a sleepless night. Furthermore, the absence of blinds or tinting meant that as soon as daybreak arrived, the villa was filled with light, making it impossible to sleep beyond 6:30 AM. Moreso, the afternoon sun was a major issue, as there was no shade available on the deck or in the villa due to the lack of blinds or tinting. The absence of privacy created a sense of insecurity and vulnerability which added to the stay being unpleasant. The cleanliness of the place was disappointing. Stained tiles in the lounge and kitchenette area, windows and frames covered in bird droppings and dirt, the shower floor and glass shield were dirty as well, and an overall lack of cleanliness gave the impression that the villa had not been properly cleaned in a long time, neither is the cleanliness at a 5-star place yet the price is. The pool was not heated, which meant we couldn't use it. Even if it were heated, the wall tiles and pool floor were extremely grimy and dirty. The jacuzzi, although functional, was also very dirty, with grime and sediment covering the walls and floor. While I understand the concept of people connecting, the absence of a TV in the villa was a major drawback. Expecting guests to rely on their own laptops or smart devices for streaming seemed unreasonable, especially considering the premium price we paid for the villa. On a positive note, the staff were great, particularly the spa attendants, Thabe and Ofentse, who were the highlights of our experience. Austin, Ayanda, and Ingrid were also awesome and attentive. . The concept of the place is great, but the execution falls short. I hope that future guests will not be misled into paying premium prices for these unhygienic and non-private villas.
Amazing place, value for money, the customer service was on point. I would, however, recommend that they add more activities and also add a variety of meal options for lunch and dinner, but other than that, everything was perfect.
Would suggest the owners look into the solar pool heating system as we couldn’t swim the whole weekend, possibly find a better-suited way to solve it. Spa is great and the ladies were great, would recommend getting a nail tech.

The staff are humble and curtious. The food was great. The venue and villas were wonderful.
The only challenge is the wind, but the place is beautiful and the food was delicious.
The location and view is very nice, but unfortunately that's where it ends. Ayanda and Barry welcomed us kindly and tried their best to ensure that everything was in order. Kraal African Lodge does not belong in this price range. The superior wooden villa's floor was damaged, they asked veskoning for it. The underfloor heating did not work. The buttons of the Jacuzzi are broken. The food is definitely not 5 star as advertised. Don't let the pictures on the website fool you when it comes to food. There is definitely a shortage of staff. The staff who prepare and serve your food are also the same staff who clean your villa. There is also only a small selection of alcoholic refreshments available and no bartender serving you. The same person who welcomes you is also the barmaid. The lodge has a lot of potential, but definitely needs attention. We even checked out a day early.
Beautiful rooms, beautiful view. Really very amazing location, and environment. Peaceful, tranquil. The spa does not give value for money. The food is good. Cleanliness was not satisfactory.

All guests’ vehicles may not be driven around the lodge area at all. The Kraal Land Rover will meet guests at the main entrance gate and escort them to our secure vehicle parking area. Guests are then transferred with their luggage for a trip through the reserve up to the lodge at the top of the mountain which takes around 20 minutes.
The short gravel road trip into the reserve to the parking area is accessible by all makes of vehicles. Guests must be punctual with the pre-arranged arrival time at our main gate, as the main gate is 6 km from the lodge.
All guests’ vehicles are to be parked at a designated and secure parking area at the owners’ risk, no vehicles may be parked up at the lodge unless previously arranged with management.
On departure, guests will be safely transported down the mountain back to the parking area and accompanied to the reserve gate.
Clients are required to abide by Kraal Lodge’s rules and regulations. Any disruptive or disrespectful behavior towards staff or other clients may result in expulsion without a refund.
Kraal Lodge is not liable for accidents, injuries, losses, or damage to personal property suffered by clients during their stay.
Clients are responsible for their personal effects and are encouraged to obtain appropriate travel insurance if wanted.
No more than 2 guests per villa will be allowed.
Children under 18 are not permitted except previously arranged with management.
Pets are not allowed.
No alcohol or food of any kind may be brought onto the lodge premises whatsoever.
A corkage fee is charged for any alcohol/bottle brought onto the premises. All bottles must be declared on arrival. Any undeclared bottle will expose the guest to additional fees.
Privacy at Kraal Lodge is guaranteed to all our guests. Taking or posting any pictures/videos of VIPs, celebrities, or any other guest visiting or staying at Kraal Lodge is prohibited.
No substance abuse of any kind will be tolerated on the premises.
No Chinese lanterns, balloons, drones, or any flying object are allowed at Kraal Lodge, this is for the protection of the fauna and flora in our reserve.
Hubbly Bubblies may only be used on our Cigar Bar deck with prior arrangement and are not permitted in any Villas, inside or outside.
Smoking indoors is prohibited.
Villa towels may not be used at the swimming pools or Jacuzzis. Please make use of swimming towels provided in each villa.
Breakfast is available between 08:00 and 10:00. Lunch is available between 12:00 and 14:00. Dinner is between 18:30 and 20:00.
Any damages to villas' fixed or movable property will be for your account.
After check-out, any missing item that was present in the room on the guest’s arrival will be charged to the guest.
A plate fee will be charged for the setting up of dinner in the Deluxe Villas.
All game drives are scheduled at a set time and no game drives will take place on Sunday/day of checkout.
Four complimentary Nespresso coffee pods are provided in the villas on arrival. Additional pods can be arranged on request.

Unfortunately, because of the high levels of load shedding in and across South Africa and the high fuel costs, during these periods Kraal Lodge’s backup generator will not be turned on during daylight hours and will only run after dark through dinner until 20:00. This is only during power outs and is not a regular occurrence.
Any additional trips to the reserve entrance or back to the parking area will be charged.
Please note a 50% cancellation fee will be charged for any canceled or unattended spa treatment. If canceled on the day and if canceled right before the treatment, the guest will be liable for the full charge.
No Gratuity may be given in cash, e-wallet, or any other form whatsoever, to any individual staff member. All gratuities may be added to your bill on check-out and are passed on to our whole lodge team as a group for their efforts in making your stay as memorable as possible.

A large walk-in shower, double vanity, and toilet are available in the en-suite bathroom. Leading from the bedroom is a living area with comfortable seating and a kitchenette equipped with a minibar as well as tea- and coffee-making facilities. These Deluxe units include a private heated swimming pool and other amenities include a hairdryer, mosquito spray, swimming and bath towels as well as bathrobes and slippers. Each villa has an outdoor shower, and a deck with a view, and includes breakfast and dinner.

Any additional administrative changes may carry an additional fee for guests’ accounts.
All guests’ vehicles may not be driven around the lodge area at all. The Kraal Land Rover will meet guests at the main entrance gate and escort them to our secure vehicle parking area. Guests are then transferred with their luggage for a trip through the reserve up to the lodge at the top of the mountain which takes around 20 minutes.
The short gravel road trip into the reserve to the parking area is accessible by all makes of vehicles. Guests must be punctual with the pre-arranged arrival time at our main gate, as the main gate is 6 km from the lodge.
All guests’ vehicles are to be parked at a designated and secure parking area at the owners’ risk, no vehicles may be parked up at the lodge unless previously arranged with management.
On departure, guests will be safely transported down the mountain back to the parking area and accompanied to the reserve gate.
Clients are required to abide by Kraal Lodge’s rules and regulations. Any disruptive or disrespectful behavior towards staff or other clients may result in expulsion without a refund.
Kraal Lodge is not liable for accidents, injuries, losses, or damage to personal property suffered by clients during their stay.
Clients are responsible for their personal effects and are encouraged to obtain appropriate travel insurance if wanted.
No more than 2 guests per villa will be allowed.
Children under 18 are not permitted except previously arranged with management.
Pets are not allowed.
No alcohol or food of any kind may be brought onto the lodge premises whatsoever.
A corkage fee is charged for any alcohol/bottle brought onto the premises. All bottles must be declared on arrival. Any undeclared bottle will expose the guest to additional fees.
Privacy at Kraal Lodge is guaranteed to all our guests. Taking or posting any pictures/videos of VIPs, celebrities, or any other guest visiting or staying at Kraal Lodge is prohibited.
No substance abuse of any kind will be tolerated on the premises.
No Chinese lanterns, balloons, drones, or any flying object are allowed at Kraal Lodge, this is for the protection of the fauna and flora in our reserve.
Hubbly Bubblies may only be used on our Cigar Bar deck with prior arrangement and are not permitted in any Villas, inside or outside.
Smoking indoors is prohibited.
Villa towels may not be used at the swimming pools or Jacuzzis. Please make use of swimming towels provided in each villa.
Breakfast is available between 08:00 and 10:00. Lunch is available between 12:00 and 14:00. Dinner is between 18:30 and 20:00.
Any damages to villas' fixed or movable property will be for your account.
After check-out, any missing item that was present in the room on the guest’s arrival will be charged to the guest.
A plate fee will be charged for the setting up of dinner in the Deluxe Villas.
All game drives are scheduled at a set time and no game drives will take place on Sunday/day of checkout.
Four complimentary Nespresso coffee pods are provided in the villas on arrival. Additional pods can be arranged on request.
Guests are asked to leave all bath towels on the bathroom floor to be replaced.
Unfortunately, because of the high levels of load shedding in and across South Africa and the high fuel costs, during these periods Kraal Lodge’s backup generator will not be turned on during daylight hours and will only run after dark through dinner until 20:00. This is only during power outs and is not a regular occurrence.
Any additional trips to the reserve entrance or back to the parking area will be charged.
Please note a 50% cancellation fee will be charged for any canceled or unattended spa treatment. If canceled on the day and if canceled right before the treatment, the guest will be liable for the full charge.
No Gratuity may be given in cash, e-wallet, or any other form whatsoever, to any individual staff member. All gratuities may be added to your bill on check-out and are passed on to our whole lodge team as a group for their efforts in making your stay as memorable as possible.

This lodge offers guests the options of 3 Deluxe villas and 2 Superior villas that are luxuriously furnished with a king-size bed and can accommodate 2 guests. Guests have access to a wooden deck with amazing views of the surrounding game reserve as well as a private splash pool at each villa, the Superior villas include a heated Jacuzzi. The main lodge has 2 pools.
Included in the rate are breakfast and dinner. Guests can enjoy these meals in the lodge’s dining room, or guests who are staying in the Superior villas can enjoy their meals in the comfort of their own space.
The lodge’s own private spa offers wonderful treatments, a sauna, and a jacuzzi.
Guests' vehicles are parked in a secure parking garage at the bottom of the mountain, they are then transported through the game reserve in a game vehicle to the main lodge at the top of the mountain.
