7 guests' feedbackIt was comfortable and very rustic. The cabin was not the cleanest, but it was suitable for what we required.
While the unit looks like it does in the photos, it states that it is a standalone unit while it is part of a complex of units which are not soundproof. We could hear the children next door when they were in the bathroom, and when the family next door were on the patio, it sounded like they were outside our bedroom window. The website said they have a chef who specialises in game dishes, so we chose to eat in the restaurant one night and were greatly disappointed. We were given an A4 page with a selection of dishes. We had to ask the waitress for an explanation of how to order. We all ordered the porterhouse steak. I received two minute steaks, and a third of my husband's steak was pure gristle. The only thing tasty on the menu was the potatoes, and this at R285 pp. The tablecloths were stained. The staff are not very professional and could do with more training on how to be excellent in the hospitality industry.
Dinner, B&B included in the price a tasty surprise.
Bushlands is in a beautiful area, animals roaming the property and the walking trail is a great idea. It is short enough for a 5 year old to walk and allowed the children to walk very close to the animals. Staff very friendly and helpful. Close to Damazulu and the large game park for day trips.
It is quiet and peaceful. The meals are exceptional.
We had a nice stay and the staff is very friendly. For the price you pay, you expect a little more. They can easily replace their beds and the bedding is also very old. The towels are worn out too.
The road to the lodge was bad but I was most disappointed by the poor response to plumbing failures during our stay. We had to go to bed without ablutions and were disappointed by management ignoring of our complaint regarding this. Also, the towels supplied smelled stale and were not crisply laundered as expected. However, the food and facilities were otherwise good.
